I got to know Alvin Baltrop's work from a documentary film about sex in the 70's. Then a few month ago, I was invited to a lecture by Douglas Crimp who is living cross the street from my apartment. He has vividly talked about Baltrop's work and his impact on photography as well as an unique history of New York. I was quite fascinated about his work, he is like the Kohei Yoshiyuki of America. Today I saw this month's Artforum has one of Baltrop's photos as the cover with an article by Mr. Crimp, very much worth reading.
